In my effort to subvert the innate hierarchies of the dining table, I decided to dismantle it altogether. If I started from the beginning I could then attempt to rebuild something influenced by my research and data collection around global dining norms. Common themes throughout my initial ideation included movement (from the object and the users), levels, and certain elements of surprise. I wanted to maintain the ethos of the collection I’d been building, but I had the opportunity to make something to a new level of refinement both in concept and material.
